Sona Varpetyan was born on 23.09.1988 in Yerevan. As an experienced opera singer, Sona has consistently expanded her vocal repertoire in many genres of music, recording for popular TV shows, performing for the Armenian National Jazz Orchestra, and at the same time she gave concerts all over Europe as an opera singer .She comes from a very large musical family and began her musical career at the age of 5, studying piano at the A. Spendaryan Music School and vocals at the T. Chukhajyan Music School. 1994-2004 she studied at school N17 named after David Ambartsumyan. During her school years ,she participated in the “Gold Star” competition in 2001 and won 1st place. And in 2002 she took 1st place at the classical music festival “Teryan’s days in Yerevan”. She completed her bachelor’s degree in 2004-2009 and in 2009-2011 she completed her master’s degree as an opera singer at the Yerevan State Conservatory named after Komitas. 2008 she won 2nd place in "Veradardz" (Return) classical music festival and in the same festival she got special prize for "The best performance of Armenian song" . In 2013 ,she participated in the international Komitas festival in Germany and won 3rd place and was immediately invited to study at the Lotte Lehmann summer school in Perleberg , where she syudied in the summer of 2014 . In the same year she won the music competition of the “Baze” pan-Armenian youth camp and received the 1st proze. While studying at the conservatory ,she gave her solo concerts, 2012-2017 started working in the Armenian Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre named after Al.Spendiaryan as a soloist , traveled around the world ,toured and sang at the same time from 2006-2009 in “ Speghani” choir like solo singer (artistic director and conductor - Sarina Avtandilyn) and from 2009-2016 in Geghard monostery cherch and in “Geghard” ensemble ( artistic director- Mgher Navoyan ,conductor – Anahit Papayan) . From 2015 she sang in “Armadam” ethno-jazz band and from 2019 she was singer in Armenian National jazz Orchestra .In 2018, the solo concert held in Baden-Württemberg was sold out, when Sona Varpetyan and her friends performed at the "Armenian Culture Days in Stuttgart" festival, receiving standing ovation from the audience. From 2019-2022 Sona was Solist in ”Hay Hamerg Project” Production by ”Sharm Holding” .During this period , Hay Hamerg Project filmed video clips and concerts with sold out in Dvin Music hall . Sinc 2021 she has created her own projects- the show “Burlesque” (Project Director Jhon Mkrtchyan , Choreography – Manuel Manuk ),and several theatrical experiments and at the same time starred in musical TV programs such as “Erg Ergoc” and “Mer oreri erge” . All these years she wrote songs and shot video clips for her solo career . Since december 2022 , Sona has been working for the cruise company Silversea as a lead vocalist in the production cast .
